What We Believe

Engage the Lost, Establish believer, equip disciples, empower for mission

Christway wants to lead people to a growing relationship with God, others, and community

OUR CORE VALUES

We are rooted in the authority of Scripture as our final standard for faith and life, centered on Jesus Christ in all we do, and committed to making disciples who grow and help others grow. We value authentic community marked by love and accountability, an obedient faith lived out in action, and missional living that reaches people with the gospel in everyday life. We seek to hold truth and grace together, relying fully on prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit as we pursue our mission to lead people into a growing relationship with God, each other, and the community.

God eternally exists as one God in three distinct persons:
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- Each person is fully God.
- Each shares the same divine nature and attributes.
- The three are distinct in personhood, not roles or modes.
- God is one in essence, not three gods.
This is not a contradiction. It is a mystery revealed by God, not invented by man.
The word Trinity does not appear in Scripture, but the truth of the Trinity is woven throughout the entire Bible.

Genesis 1:26 | Psalm 45:6-7 | Psalm 110:1 | Isaiah 6:8 | Matthew 3:16-17 | Matthew 28:19 | John 1:1-5 | John 13:20 | 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 | 2 Corinthians 13:14 | Ephesians 2:18 | 1 Peter 1:2

We believe God the Father is the eternal, sovereign Creator of all things, perfect in holiness, love, justice, and power. He sustains and rules over creation, purposes all things according to His will, and faithfully keeps His promises. As Father, He lovingly initiates salvation, adopts believers into His family, and invites them into a personal relationship with Himself through Jesus Christ.

Deuteronomy 6:4 | Psalm 103:13 | Isaiah 64:8 | John 3:16 | Ephesians 1:3–5

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and the only Savior of the world. He is fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, who lived a sinless life and perfectly revealed God. Jesus willingly died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead on the third day, and ascended into heaven where He reigns as Lord and intercedes for believers. He will return personally and visibly to judge the living and the dead and to fully establish His Kingdom. Salvation is found in Jesus alone, and all who trust in Him are called to follow Him in faith and obedience.

John 1:1–3 | Colossians 2:9 | John 1:14 | Hebrews 2:14 | Hebrews 4:15 | 1 Peter 2:22 | Isaiah 53:5 | 2 Corinthians 5:21 | Matthew 28:5–6 | 1 Corinthians 15:4 | Acts 2:36 | Ephesians 1:20–22 | John 14:6 | Acts 4:12 | Acts 1:11 | Revelation 19:11 | Romans 10:9 | Luke 9:23

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, equal with the Father and the Son, and actively present in the world today. He convicts people of sin, reveals truth, and draws individuals to salvation through Jesus Christ. At the moment of faith, the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, sealing them for redemption and empowering them to live a godly life. He guides, teaches, comforts, and equips believers with spiritual gifts for the building up of the Church and for faithful witness in the world.

John 14:16–17 | John 16:8–13 | Romans 8:9–11 | 1 Corinthians 12:4–7 | Ephesians 1:13–14

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for faith and life. It is fully trustworthy, true, and without error in all that it affirms, revealing God’s character, His will, and His plan of salvation. Written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Scripture is sufficient for teaching, correction, and instruction in righteous living and stands as the supreme standard by which all beliefs and practices are measured.

2 Timothy 3:16–17 | 2 Peter 1:20–21 | Psalm 19:7–9 | Isaiah 55:11 | Matthew 5:18 | John 17:17 | Hebrews 4:12 | Psalm 119:105

Salvation is the gift of God’s grace made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A person receives salvation by responding to the gospel with faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, turning from sin in repentance, confessing Christ, and being baptized into Him.

Romans 3:23 | Romans 6:23 | Ephesians 2:8–9 | Romans 5:1 | 2 Corinthians 5:17

We believe every person is created for eternity and will exist forever, either in eternal life with God or in eternal separation from Him. Those who place their faith in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in the presence of God, enjoying everlasting life. Those who reject Christ will face eternal separation from God. Heaven and hell are real, and our eternal destiny is determined by our response to Jesus Christ in this life.

John 5:28–29 | John 3:16 | Matthew 25:46 | 2 Corinthians 5:10 | Revelation 21:1–4

We believe baptism is commanded by Jesus Christ for all who believe in Him. Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).

In the New Testament, those who heard the gospel responded with repentance and baptism. Peter said, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38).

Baptism is practiced by immersion in water and is closely connected with the believer’s participation in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Scripture says, “We were buried with him by baptism into death… so that we too may walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).

Through baptism believers are baptized into Christ and clothed with Him (Romans 6:3; Galatians 3:27). Baptism is not a physical washing but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:21).

Therefore, together with repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, baptism marks the beginning of a new life in Christ and entrance into the family of God.

We believe the local church is the body of Christ, made up of baptized believers who have been called together by God to worship, fellowship, grow in the Word, and carry out the mission of Jesus. The church exists to glorify God by proclaiming the gospel, making disciples, practicing baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and serving others in love. Jesus Christ alone is the head of the church, and each congregation is autonomous, led by biblically qualified leaders and committed to the unity and mission of the body.

Matthew 16:18 | Acts 2:42–47 | 1 Corinthians 12:12–27 | Ephesians 4:11–16 | Colossians 1:18

Marriage
We believe marriage is a sacred covenant established by God, designed to unite one man and one woman in a lifelong, faithful relationship. Marriage reflects God’s design for companionship, family, and faithfulness, and serves as a picture of Christ's relationship with the Church. God created marriage to be honored, protected, and lived out according to His Word.

Genesis 2:24 | Matthew 19:4–6 | Ephesians 5:31–32 | Hebrews 13:4

Sanctity of Life
We believe all human life is sacred and created by God in His image, from conception to natural death. Every person possesses inherent value and dignity, not based on ability, age, or circumstance, but on God's design and purpose. Because life is a gift from God, it is to be protected, honored, and treated with respect at every stage.

Genesis 1:27 | Psalm 139:13–16 | Jeremiah 1:5 | Job 33:4 | Deuteronomy 30:19

We believe God created humanity in His image as male and female, and that gender is a good and intentional gift from God, determined by Him at creation. We believe God designed sexual intimacy to be expressed only within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Any sexual activity outside of this design falls outside God’s will. While all people are created with dignity and worth and are to be treated with love and respect, we affirm that truth and grace must remain together, calling all people to repentance, obedience, and new life in Christ.

Genesis 1:27 | Genesis 2:24 | Matthew 19:4–6 | Romans 1:26–27 | 1 Corinthians 6:9–11

We believe the Bible is the final and complete authority for all matters of faith, belief, and conduct. Scripture alone reveals God’s truth and provides the standard by which all teaching, doctrine, moral decisions, and spiritual practices are to be evaluated. No tradition, opinion, experience, or authority stands above or equal to God’s written Word.
